MTV’s Double Dip: Video, Movie Awards Both in L.A.

The network will hold both of its signature awards shows on the West Coast this year

MTV is bringing the VMAs back to Los Angeles.

The network Thursday announced the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards will originate live from the west coast on Sunday, Sept. 12, at a venue to be determined. Jesse Ignjatovic will return for his fourth go-round as executive producer.

The VMAs have been held in Los Angeles several times before, but last year the network chose New York to host the event.

MTV has also confirmed that the 2010 Movie Awards will return to the Gibson Amphitheater at Universal City in Los Angeles. Mark Burnett will again executive produce the kudos, which is headed into its 19th year.

“The Movie Awards and the VMAs consistently deliver some of the most talked about moments on TV," said MTV general manager Stephen Friedman. "Making Los Angeles this year’s location for both shows gives us the perfect hotbed to create the eclectic mix of artists, stars and commotion which embody MTV events."
