‘The LXD’ Launches July 7 on Hulu

Scripted web show combines superheroes and dance into “the world’s first online dance adventure series”

"The Legion of Extraordinary Dancers," or "The LXD" for short, debuts July 7 on Hulu.

Paramount Digital Entertainment is distributing the scripted web show, which it calls "the world's first online dance adventure series."

"The LXD" was created by Jon M. Chu, director of "Step Up 2: The Streets" and "Step Up 3D" (latter opens in theaters on Aug. 6).

Chu was behind “The Biggest Online Dance Battle,” a widely seen video “dance-off” with Miley Cyrus on YouTube in 2008.

The story of The LXD unfolds in three volumes, starting with “The Uprising Begins.” It follows seemingly ordinary people who discover they have extraordinary powers and must choose their place in an epic war between good and evil.

High school outcast Trevor Drift (Luis “Luigi” Rosado) uncovers his family’s dangerous secret, while fallen soldier Sp3cimen (Chadd “Madd Chadd” Smith) runs from his dark past and unassuming hero Elliot Hoo (“Glee’s” Harry Shum Jr.) is haunted by newly discovered supernatural gifts. All are called to fulfill their destiny and join the Legion of Extraordinary Dancers.

Also featured are Aja George, Richard “Steelo” Vazquez, Terence Dickson, Straphanio "Shonnie" Soloman, Jeremy Marinas and Roger Aaron Brown.

The "LXD" troup has opened for the "Glee" live tour and also appeared on the 2010 Academy Awards and "So You Think You Can Dance” in December.

"The LXD" was created by Chu and produced by Chu in partnership with Agility Studios.
