The Weinstein Company has acquired U.S., Latin America and German rights to Ecosse Films’ “Nowhere Boy," a biodrama about John Lennon’s coming-of-age just prior to his joining the Beatles in the 1960s.
The film is being directed by Sam Taylor-Wood and stars Aaron Johnson, Kristin Scott Thomas, Thomas Sangster, David Morrissey and Anne-Marie Duff. Principal photography began March 8 on location in Liverpool and at Ealing Studios. Matt Greenhalgh (“Control”) is writing the screenplay that is being adapted from “Imagine This,” Julia Baird’s book on Lennon, her half-brother.
“Nowhere Boy” is an Ecosse Films production in association with Film4, the UK Film Council’s Premiere Fund, NorthWest Vision and Media, Lip Sync Productions and Aver Media. The script was developed with the support of the UK Film Council’s Development Fund.
