Highlights from HBO’s presentation at the annual TCA summer press tour

During HBO's presentation at the annual TCA summer press tour on Saturday, president of programming Michael Lombardo and co-president Richard Plepler talked about the lack of Emmy love for "Treme" and made several announcements about upcoming programming.

Here are some highlights from their remarks:

-"In Treatment," the Gabriel Byrne psychiatry drama with the unique five-nights-a-week format will return for a third season some time in October.

-HBO will air British comedian Ricky Gervais second American stand-up special. "Ricky Gervais: Out of England Two" will debut in December, 

-"True Blood" and "Six Feet Under" creator Alan Ball will start shooting the pilot for his new crime series "All Signs of Death" this month."True Blood" will remain his top priority even if "All Signs of Death" gets picked up. 

-HBO acquired a documentary that looks at the creation of Bruce Springsteens landmark 1978 album "Darkness on the Edge of Town," it will premiere on the network in October.   

-Plepler discussed the lack of Emmy love for "Treme," David Simon's tale of post-Katrina New Orleans. "There's nothing you can do about the Emmy gods," Plepler said. Plepler said it's apparent to anyone who watches the show that "Treme" is "breathtaking" and pointed out that Simon's previous series, the critically acclaimed drug war drama "The Wire," also didn't receive Emmy recognition.
