The network will air an animated adaptation of ‘Napoleon Dynamite’ and Jonah Hill's ‘Allen Gregory’
Fox picked up a pair of new cartoons for the 2011-12 TV season — an animated adaptation of the film "Napoleon Dynamite" and "Allen Gregory," which will star Jonah Hill as a precocious child prodigy.
The film version of "Napoleon Dynamite" was released in 2004. It was written by the husband-and-wife team of Jared and Jerusha Hess. The Hess' will be returning the write and executive produce the cartoon adaptation for 20th Century Fox Television along with former "Simpsons" showrunner Mike Scully. Many of the films stars, including Jon Heder and Efren Ramirez, will be returning to voice their characters in the cartoon.
"Allen Gregory" is being produced by 20th Century Fox and Chernin Entertainment. Fox ordered seven episodes of the series, which is about a 7-year-old genius named Allen Gregory who attends a regular elementary school. "Superbad" star Jonah Hill will voice Gregory. Hill is also writing the show along with Andrew Mogel and Jarrad Paul. Hill, Mogel and Paul are also serving as executive producers along with Peter Chernin and Katherine Pope.
