Jamie Foxx’s Mafia Drama Lands at NBC

The untitled project joins “Life is Good” and “The Happiness Project” in development for the network

NBC has picked up two more projects for development, including a still-untitled Jamie Foxx project that focuses on a lawyer/secret assassin who's out to avenge her family's murder.

The project is from writer/executive producer Jorge Zamacona ("Oz," "The Unusuals") along with executive producers Foxx and Deon Taylor.

Chris Pappas and Mike Bernier ("Unhitched") and Scot Armstrong ('"The Hangover Part II") will produce "Life Is Good," the story of a suburban dad who is discovered by the 19-year-old mixed-race son he never knew he had. Ravi Nandan will also executive produce.

The pickups are in addition to an NBC project announced Friday, starring "Sex and the City" star Kristin Davis.

NBC picked up Davis' The Happiness Project, based on the best-selling memoir by Gretchen Rubin, about a woman's quest to become a happier person.

Kristin Newman ("Chuck," "How I Met Your Mother") is in negotiations to write the pilot and executive produce. Jimmy Miller and Dave Fleming also will executive produce.

Rubin was a law clerk for Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor. Her yearlong quest to make herself happier via science and pop culture was documented on her blog.
