Zombie series declines 11 percent in total viewers from premeire
For AMC, zombies are coming up bigger than ad-agency executives.
The network renewed its new Frank Darabont-created sci-fi drama after only two weeks on the air, with episode two drawing 4.7 million viewers, 3.3 million 18-49.
The network is claiming a cable record for a new series in the key demo, with the show averaging 3.5 million viewers 18-49 over its first two weeks.
AMC has ordered 13 additional episodes for the post-apocalyptic-themed show, which also had the biggest series debut ever for Fox International Channels.
The series declined 11 percent in week two in total viewers, with 5.3 million watchers turning out for the pilot. In dropped 8 percent in viewers 18-49 from week one to two.
Based on a Robert Kirkman's eponymous comic-book series, "Walking Dead" stars Andrew Lincoln as a sheriff's deputy trying to make a go of it in a future full of the carnivorous undead.
