Paul Giamatti Joins Todd Phillips’ ‘The Hangover Part II’

The Oscar-nominated actor will join his new co-stars in Thailand in a few weeks

Paul Giamatti will join fellow Oscar nominee Liam Neeson amongst the new cast members of Todd Phillips' "The Hangover Part II," an individual familiar with the project has confirmed to TheWrap.

Giamatti is expected to join co-stars Bradley Cooper, Zach Galifianakis and Ed Helms in Thailand in a few weeks once he wraps the HBO movie "Too Big to Fail."

While it remains unclear what role Giamatti will be playing in the Warner Bros. sequel, it's possible that he could be the one replacing Mel Gibson in a cameo as a Bangkok tattoo artist, as Neeson recently announced that he'd been cast as a different character, although he didn't reveal who.

Meanwhile, TMZ has published photos from the set revealing that Helms' character will get a ridiculous, Mike Tyson-esque facial tattoo, while Galifianakis will be bald in at least part of the film.

Giamatti will soon be seen in the indie drama "Barney's Version" as well as Fox Searchlight's upcoming comedy "Win Win" from writer-director Tom McCarthy. The actor is also set to join Ryan Gosling and Philip Seymour Hoffman in George Clooney's political drama "The Ides of March."

Giamatti is represented by UTA and Kipperman Management.
