Sony Announces New ‘Spider-Man’ Title; Unveils Wall-Crawler Photo

First photo of Andrew Garfield in full mask and suit, superhero flick to be called “The Amazing Spider-Man

New cast, new director, now the "Spider-Man" reboot can add new title to the growing list of fresh changes to the big budget superhero franchise

Columbia Pictures announced Monday that the title of the next Spider-Man film will be "The Amazing Spider-Man."

The studio simultaneously released a the first photo of star Andrew Garfield wearing Spider-Man's full mask and suit. 

Last month, it showed a shot of a pensive looking Garfield sans mask.

The film, which is now in production and is being shot entirely in 3D. It swings into theaters on July 3, 2012.

It stars Garfield as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy, Rhys Ifans as the Lizard, Martin Sheen as Uncle Ben, and Sally Field as Aunt May.

The film is directed by Marc Webb ("500 Days of Summer") from a screenplay by James Vanderbilt and Alvin Sargent and Steve Kloves based on the Marvel Comic Book by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko.

Laura Ziskin, Avi Arad, and Matt Tolmach are producing the Marvel Entertainment production for Columbia Pictures. The executive producers are Stan Lee, Kevin Feige, and Michael Grillo.
