Piers Morgan responded to a scathing, 1,975-word piece by Vanity Fair media columnist James Wolcott — in which Wolcott, who referred to Morgan as "Uncle Sham" and a "canned ham," asked, "How did we get stuck with Piers Morgan? Who is he, why is he here, is he returnable?" — with a tweet:

I actually did find some humour in Wolcott's argument:
His interview with former secretary of state Condoleezza Rice was like a Valentine’s Day date gone bad as he tossed her a series of candy kisses, such as “Do you dream of a fairy-tale wedding?” and “How would I woo you?”
Wolcott does give credit to CNN for bumping celebrities for breaking news coverage, even on Morgan's show. But what happens when the "breaking news" is a celebrity, like, say, Charlie Sheen.
It appears CNN liked Morgan's Monday interview with Sheen (and the accompanying ratings boost) so much that they decided to rerun it tonight.
Only trouble is, NBC will have a new hour with Sheen on "Dateline" tonight, too, making a five-day-old interview with the "Two and a Half Men" star seem a bit dated.
It's probably just as well. Morgan's previously booked interview was with Topher Grace, Anna Faris and the rest of the cast of "Take Me Home Tonight."
That interview will air on Saturday, instead.
