Werner Herzog Reads ‘Go the F— to Sleep’ (Video)

Like Samuel L. Jackson, the German director has narrated Adam Mansbach’s jokey best-seller

Werner Herzog has never worked with Samuel L. Jackson, but maybe they should take this "Go the F— to Sleep" act on the road.

Following the news that Samuel L. Jackson has provided the narration for the (currently free) audiobook of Adam Mansbach's jokey parenting book "Go the F— to Sleep," a funny YouTube video of Werner Herzog reading it in his distinctive German accent has surfaced.

The clip was captured Tuesday at an event at the New York Public Library to celebrate the title's launch.

The cheeky book, from independent publisher Akashic, went on sale and has become an unexpectedly massive hit. "Go the F— to Sleep" will debut at No. 1 on the New York Times bestseller list for advice and how-to books after a buzz-building campaign capitalizing on its blunt title.

"The cats nestle down with their kittens," begins Herzog, his accent eliciting laughter from the audience of some 400 people. The rest is comic gold.

The run of publicity continues Thursday night, when Jackson reads the book on "Late Show with David Letterman."
