DSK Accuser Files Libel Suit Against NY Post

The hotel maid who accused former IMF chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn of sexual assault has now filed a libel lawsuit against the New York Post for a series of stories claiming that she is a prostitute.

Last Friday the prosecution in the sexual assault case released Strauss-Kahn without bail, and within 24 hours the Post published a story claiming the maid demanded money from Strauss-Kahn and decided to accuse him of sexual assault only after he refused to pay.

Over the July 4 weekend, the Post continued to publish stories releasing new details with sources from both sides of the sexual assault case. Among the claims made are that the maid had been orchestrating sex-for-money exchanges for some time and that she continued to turn tricks from the hotel room in which the Manhattan DA sequestered her.

The woman’s lawyer, Kenneth Thompson, filed the claim Tuesday in Bronx state Supreme Court and alleged the stories were simply an effort to boost the Post’s lagging sales numbers. This came just hours after the DA’s office announced it will drop charges in the sexual assault case within two weeks.

In another lawsuit related to Strauss-Kahn, a French writer said Monday that she will file a lawsuit charging Strauss-Kahn with rape.
