Samuel L. Jackson to Star in Quentin Tarantino’s ‘Django Unchained’

He joins Leonardo DiCaprio and Jamie Foxx in the spaghetti western

Samuel L. Jackson and Quentin Tarantino are together again. Jackson has taken a role in the director's "Django Unchained," TheWrap has confirmed.

Leonardo DiCaprio stars as the evil Calvin Candie. Jamie Foxx plays Django.

The movie is described as a spaghetti western, but it's an especially violent one. Django is a slave who is freed by a bounty hunter who kills — instead of merely capturing — the outlaws he searches for. The bounty hunter, a German dentist, befriends Django and helps him free his wife from a vile plantation owner, Candie.

Jackson will play Stephen, a sadistic slave in Candie's home.

Tarantino wrote and is directing the film. Having Jackson on the set will be familiar for him. The two worked together in the 1994 "Pulp Fiction," the 1997 "Jackie Brown," the 2004 "Kill Bill: Vol. 2" and the 2009 "Inglorious Basterds."

The Weinstein Company will release "Django Unchained" domestically. Sony Pictures will handle it internationally.

Variety first reported the news.
