‘DWTS’: Cher Tweets Her Anger After Chaz Bono Booted (Video)

Chaz Bono received a standing ovation when he was voted off after his "Phantom of the Opera"-themed tango received the lowest scores of the week

Chaz Bono can't be feeling too bad this morning: Even though he was voted off "Dancing With the Stars" in the sixth week of the season 13 competition, he got a standing ovation and the fierce support of his mother, Cher.

Bono and professional dance partner Lacey Schwimmer had survived several weeks of getting the lowest scores from the judges, but were popular with both viewers and their fellow contestants.

Bono, the only child of Sonny Bono and Cher, was born a woman but completed surgery last year to become a man. Bono and Schwimmer received a standing ovation as they were voted off Tuesday night, and Bono said he'd joined the "DWTS" cast "to show America a different kind of man."

"If there was somebody like me on TV when I was growing up, my whole life would have been different," he said. "I dedicate everything I did to all the people out there like me, and especially the kids and teens who are struggling. You know, you're gonna have a wonderful, great life and be successful and happy."

Cher took to Twitter Tuesday night to express her support and criticize "DWTS" judges Bruno Tonioli and Len Goodman. Their critiques of her son included frequent references to his weight and comparisons to animals.

"Going Home is Fine but why insult him b4 he Goes! Maybe Rudeness & Flapping Arms take the place of … TALENT! As for the Older Gentleman … every Show Needs A Grumpy Old Man!"

Added Cher, "Not Gone& I'm Good! Needed 2 Vent! It Would Have Been Blast if Chaz Stay-ed, But He NEVER Danced b4, so it was a Great Dream 4 a Great Guy!XX."
