Fox Searchlight Signs First-Look Deal with ‘Martha Marcy May Marlene’ Team

Borderline Films has also produced "Afterschool" and "Two Gates of Sleep"

Fox Searchlight and Borderline Films have signed a two-year, first-look deal, the two companies announced on Thursday.

Borderline is the partnership of Antonio Campos, Sean Durkin and Josh Mond, better known as the creative team behind the Sundance breakout movie, "Martha Marcy May Marlene."

Fox Searchlight picked up the psychological thriller after it won the festival's "Dramatic Feature Directing Award" last winter.

The film centers on a girl who flees from an abusive cult. It has earned raves for the lead performance of star Elizabeth Olsen. Durkin directed and wrote the film, while Campos produced it.

“Fox Searchlight is an ideal home for our company," Borderline said in a statement. "This partnership allows us to take the momentum we've built since launching Borderline in 2003 to an entirely new level."

In addition to "Martha Marcy May Marlene," Borderline has produced "Afterschool," a 2008 feature about Internet addicted kids, and "Two Gates of Sleep," which centers on two brothers fulfilling their dying mother's request.
