Frequent collaborators Brad Pitt and George Clooney will be working together again — this time on stage.
Pitt has signed onto the cast for the West Coast premiere reading of the Dustin Lance Black play "8," based on the battle to overturn the controversial Proposition 8, which banned gay marriage in California.

Pitt joins a cast that already includes Clooney and Martin Sheen. He will play U.S. District Judge Vaughn R. Walker, who in August 2010 ruled that Prop 8, which was approved by California voters in 2008, was unconstitutional. (The U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals upheld Walker's ruling last month; the case is expected to travel to the U.S. Supreme Court.)
Clooney and Sheen will play attorneys David Boies and Theodore B. Olson, who served as the plaintiffs' co-counsel in the case that overturned Prop 8.

"8" — which was written by "Milk" and "J. Edgar" screenwriter Black based on trial transcripts and first-hand courtroom observations — had its world premiere in September of 2011 at the Eugene O'Neill Theatre in New York.
The West Coast premiere reading will be directed by Rob Reiner, and will take place on Saturday at the Wilshire Ebell Theatre in Los Angeles. "X-Men" director Bryan Singer is the night's supporting sponsor, with proceeds from the benefit going to the continued fight for federal marriage equality.
Jane Lynch, Mattthew Morrison, Chris Colfer, Jamie Lee Curtis, Kevin Bacon and George Takei are also among the cast for Saturday's reading.
The performance will be live-streamed beginning with pre-show coverage at 7:30 PST at the American Foundation for Equal Right's YouTube channel.
