‘Dawson’s Creek’s’ Coming-of-Age Angst Is So Much Better With Dachshunds (Video)

Fan video stars dogs in the roles made iconic by James Van Der Beek, Katie Holmes, Joshua Jackson and Michelle Williams

John Oliver recently made the argument that the Supreme Court discussions would be more interesting if it was presented by a cast of dogs, and he was right.

It may well be that dogs make everything better, because Michael Immerman’s fan-made video of “Dawson’s Creek,” recasting the human characters as dachshunds, is all kinds of wonderful.

Even better, just as Oliver said the dogs would make the otherwise boring conversations more compelling, the actors in “Dachshund’s Creek” make all the teen coming-of-age sex talk and angst resonate even more strongly.

Now, not only do we want to hug Joey and Dawson, we want to scratch them behind the ears and maybe even rub their bellies.

Using actual dialogue from “Dawson’s Creek,” this new project just proved that this is a technique that can — and should — be adopted for other classic television shows. We nominate “Saved by the Bell,” “Melrose Place” and “Full House.”
