Bear Grylls ‘Disagrees’ With Discovery’s Decision, Rep Says

Spokeswoman for ousted “Man vs. Wild” adventurer Bear Grylls says he will “produce further cutting edge content soon”

Bear Grylls has had to swallow a lot of unsavory things as a host of Discovery Channel's reality series "Man vs. Wild" — but Discovery's decision to drop him on Tuesday might go down the hardest.

Grylls' spokeswoman told TheWrap that Grylls isn't happy about Discovery halting production of "Man vs. Wild" over what the network described as a contract dispute, saying that Grylls "disagrees" with the channel's choice.

"Bear's goal has always been to make life-empowering shows for his many fans around the globe, and he has taken great risks to bring Discovery such award winning programming over seven seasons," the spokeswoman said in a statement provided to TheWrap. "Unfortunately, Bear and Discovery have not been able to come to mutual agreement on new programming, and he disagrees with Discovery's decision to terminate current productions."

The spokesperson added that British adventurer Grylls, who launched "Man vs. Wild" in 2006, will create content again in the future, though what form it will take and what venue it will appear in aren't clear.

"Bear has loved the 'Man vs. Wild' journey and looks forward to producing further cutting edge content again soon for his loyal audience," the statement reads.

It is not certain why Discovery chose to cut ties with Grylls. However, Discovery confirmed the split Tuesday.

"Due to a continuing contractual dispute with Bear Grylls, Discovery has terminated all current productions with him," a spokeswoman for Discovery told TheWrap.
