"American Idol" contestant Jermaine Jones has been ousted from the show for concealing his past, which includes two arrests.

The Top 12 contestant tweeted his exit on Tuesday with the words: "Awww I will no longer b on the show."

According to TMZ, Jones — known on the show as "the gentle giant" — was arrested and charged with two crimes in 2011, one involving violence.

In both arrests, Jones gave a fake name to police. He additionally did not reveal to producers that he has outstanding warrants. From New Jersey, Jones is 25.

Jones, a soulful singer with dreadlocks, is one of the older contestants on the Fox singing competition. He was saved by the judges as a "wild card," after being rejected during the voting rounds. Last week he was among the bottom three on the show.

The show will air on Wednesday night, with the results on Thursday.

But with "Idol" ratings dipping below those of "The Voice," the real question may be: will viewers care?
