The inaugural BBC Music Awards will officially have at least twice as many performers as actual award winners.
One Direction, Coldplay, Ed Sheeran, Calvin Harris, Clean Bandit and Paloma Faith were revealed Friday by the BBC as the first wave of performers at the first annual awards show, which will celebrate the best in music over the past 12 months and hand out just three trophies: British Artist of the Year, International Artist of the Year, and Song of the Year.
The BBC Music Awards, hosted by British TV and radio personalities Chris Evans (so, not Captain America) and Fearne Cotton, will air live on BBC One from London’s Earl’s Court on Dec. 11.

“We’re really looking forward to the BBC Music Awards,” Coldplay frontman Chris Martin said. “It’s an incredible line-up and we’re honored to be part of it.”
Evans said: “Every year is a marvelous year for music in the UK and 2014 has been no exception. The inaugural BBC Music Awards will be the new icing on an ever mouthwatering end-of-term cake. We shall gratefully be tipping our hats to those whose lights have shone brightest and whose music has helped water the inner flowers of our souls, hearts and minds over the last 12 months. Call it a review with prizes, or a show full of surprises, I cannot wait.”
