Jon Stewart wasn't impressed with MSNBC host Lawrence O'Donnell's handling of the situation when the attorney for Trayvon Martin's shooter bailed on an interview.
Craig Sonner, the attorney for George Zimmerman, arrived at an Orlando studio Monday for an interview with O'Donnell, but then left. (He did hold other interviews that day.)
O'Donnell responded on his show, "The Last Word," by dramatically reading the questions he would have asked Sonner as a camera remained trained on the chair Sonner would have filled. Among his questions: Whether he had medical records to back up his claim that Zimmerman fired in self-defense.
"No, the chair doesn't have medical records to show you — it's a chair!" Stewart said on "The Daily Show" Tuesday. "You should be yelling at the filing cabinet. Note to self: Do not go to IKEA with Lawrence O'Donnell."
He added: "You know, I live in New York City. I see a lot of people yelling at chairs. None of them have TV shows."
He then introduced the chair's lawyer — a floor fan.
Somehow, with all this investigative journalism, the Martin case remains unresolved.
Stewart told his audience his writers also considered another take on the chair situation.
"The other premise was simply, Zimmerman's lawyer was there the whole time," Stewart said. "He's just very very tiny."
