Fox's "House" and NBC's "Smash" markedly improved over last week's ratings, while NBC's "The Voice" held firm to give the network an overall ratings win. Meanwhile, ABC was the most-watched network overall thanks largely to "Dancing With the Stars," according to preliminary numbers.
NBC took first place in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic with an average 3.2 rating/8 share and second in total viewers with 8.8 million. "The Voice" at 8 p.m. was flat with last week, taking the night's top ratings with a 3.7/10 in the demo and 10.1 million total viewers. Despite "The Voice"'s static showing, "Smash" increased 11 percent in the demo over last week, climbing to a 2.1/5, with 6.1 million total viewers.
ABC came in second in the demo and first in total viewers with an average 2.2/7 and 15.2 million. "Dancing With the Stars" modestly increased to a 3.0/8, and had 17.3 million total viewers, which made it the most-watched show of the evening. The "20/20" special "Dance Floor Confidential: Behind the Scenes of 'DWTS'" at 10 drew a 2.1/6 in the demo and 10.9 million total viewers.
Fox took third in the demo and total viewers with an average 2.2/6 and 6.9 million. "Bones" drew even with last week, posting a 2.2/6 and 7.2 million total viewers, while "House" the following hour enjoyed a 15 percent increase in the demo for a 2.3/6. It increased 16 percent increase in total viewers to 6.5 million.
CBS, which came in fourth in ratings and total viewers with an average 1.7/5 and 6.3 million, ran repeats.
