Rose Barrenche adapted the Gustave Flaubert classic for this latest cinematic rendition, which Sophie Barthes is directing.

Ezra Miller from “We Need to Talk About Kevin” has joined the cast as well. He will play Leon, Emma’s love interest.

Emma is a doctor’s wife who engages in a series of adulterous affairs, making the book very controversial in its time.

The film, being produced by Joe Neurauter and Felipe Marino of Occupant Entertainment, will start principal photography in Fall of 2012.
