‘The Bourne Legacy’ Release Pushed Back a Week

Universal Pictures made the move to avoid overlapping with the expected blockbuster opening of "The Dark Knight Rises"

The release of "The Bourne Legacy" was pushed up a week to Aug. 10 to avoid overlapping with the expected blockbuster opening of "The Dark Knight Rises," Universal Pictures announced Friday.

"The Bourne Legacy," the latest installment in Universal's "Bourne" series, was originally slated to open Aug. 3, two weeks after the release of the highly anticipated Batman sequel.

"'Just as 'The Avengers' demonstrated marketplace sustainability that well outpaced traditional patterns earlier this summer, the industry expects a similar trajectory for 'The Dark Knight Rises,'" the company said in a statement. "Moving one week further from its release will give 'The Bourne Legacy' an even greater opportunity to maximize its opening box office potential."
