Louis C.K. Tweets Love to Daniel Tosh After Rape-Joke Flap

"You have pretty eyes," "Louie" star Louis C.K. tells Daniel Tosh, after Tosh ignites ire with sexual-assault wisecrack

Daniel Tosh angered a lot of people with his reported use of rape jokes during a stand-up performance, but Louis C.K. isn't one of them.

While C.K. stopped short of condoning — or even referencing — Tosh's material, he did praise his Comedy Central series. And he threw in a personal compliment.

"@danieltosh your show makes me laugh every time I watch it," C.K. wrote. "And you have pretty eyes."

Tosh drew widespread ire across the Internet this week after an account of Tosh's show made its way into the blogosphere. In a post, a person purporting to be a friend of someone who attended the show said Tosh made "some very generalizing, declarative statements about rape jokes always being funny, how can a rape joke not be funny, rape is hilarious, etc."

The blog post claims that the offended attendee yelled out, "Actually, rape jokes are never funny!"

After which, the friend said, Tosh asked the crowd, "Wouldn’t it be funny if that girl got raped by like, 5 guys right now? Like right now? What if a bunch of guys just raped her."

The audience member was said to be "completely stunned" by Tosh's words and to have "high-tailed it out of there."

Soon after, Tosh tweeted a qualified apology: "All the out of context misquotes aside, I'd like to sincerely apologize."

The comedian added, "The point i was making before I was heckled is there are awful things in the world but you can still make jokes about them."

C.K. has broached the topic of rape in his own routine before.

In one routine, he recounted hooking up with a comedy-club waitress who fantasizes about having sex against her will, marveling, "You think I'm just going to rape you on the off chance that hopefully you're into that shit?" In a segment on his FX series "Louie," he responds to a heckler by telling her, "You don't like rape? That's really weird, because you know you wouldn't even exist if your mom hadn't raped that homeless Chinese guy however many years ago."
