Dani Weinstein Returns to Weinstein Co. as Publicity President

After leaving TWC's publicity department in 2010, Dani Weinstein is returning to lead it

Dani Weinstein has returned to The Weinstein Company as president of publicity two years after she left the studio for a job at the public relations firm ID, TWC announced Wednesday.

Weinstein worked with Miramax and TWC for 11 years before leaving in 2010 to serve as senior vice president of film at ID. She replaces Sarah Greenberg Roberts, who unexpectedly asked to be released from her contract in May.

Weinstein, who is not related to studio owner Harvey Weinstein, oversaw the public relations firm's film team that partnered with TWC on movies including "The Artist" and "The King's Speech."

"Dani is incredibly talented and has been an important element in our success for many years at TWC and at ID, and we're thrilled she's coming home," Harvey Weinstein said in a statement. "We look forward to many more projects and a continued long relationship with ID."

While at TWC and Miramax, Weinstein led publicity campaigns for such films as Martin Scorsese's "Gangs of New York," "The Aviator,"  Stephen Daldry's "The Reader," Quentin Tarantino's "Inglourious Basterds" and the Michael Moore documentary "Sicko."

Weinstein and fellow publicity executive Sara Serlen exited TWC in September 2010 as part of a larger strategy at the company, which is opting to farm out various elements of its public-relations business to several big-ticket PR firms and publicists.

Her work so far has helped garner 75 Academy Award nominations and 16 wins. She started her career as a broadcast agent at Don Buchwald & Associates.
