M. Night Shyamalan is trying out the TV game.
Cable network Syfy has given a put-pilot commitment to a project from Shyamalan, who's best known for big-screen efforts such as "The Sixth Sense," "The Village" and "The Last Airbender."

The project, titled "Proof," will center around the son of a tech magnate who offers a reward for anyone who can provide proof of an afterlife, after his parents die in a tragic accident.
Shyamalan will direct the project, as well as co-write and serve as one of its executive producers.
Because of the nature of the agreement, the pilot is almost guaranteed to be picked up, as Syfy will be required to pay substantial penalties if it doesn't air the pilot.
The Hollywood Reporter first reported Shyamalan's "Proof" deal with Syfy.
Syfy has also given a pilot order to a small-screen adaptation of John Christopher's juvenile science fiction novel "The Lotus Caves."
"Pushing Daisies" creator Bryan Fuller and Robert Halmi Sr. ("Merlin," "Treasure Island") will executive-produce the pilot, which is titled "High Moon," with Jim D. Gray (who's written for "Pushing Daisies" and "Torchwood") penning the pilot and also executive-producing.
Published in 1969, "The Lotus Caves" centers on two teenage boys who live in a colony on the Moon and encounter a series of underground caverns filled with alien life forms after escaping from their colony, which is called "The Bubble."
