Katie Couric: ‘American Idol’ Judges Include Nicki Minaj, Keith Urban, Randy Jackson

Couric makes some "Idol" predictions during Jennifer Lopez interview

Katie Couric made some "American Idol" predictions during the taping of Friday's "Katie," telling former judge Jennifer Lopez that Nicki Minaj, Keith Urban, Mariah Carey and Randy Jackson will be judging this coming season.

So far, only Carey has been confirmed by Fox, which has not responded to TheWrap's request for comment. It was unclear whether Couric had some inside information or was following the endlessly shifting news reports about purported "Idol" judges.

"What do you think about the new group of judges?" Couric asked Lopez, according to a Thursday morning news release from "Katie."

"Did they announce?" Lopez replied. "Who is it?"

"Mariah Carey, Nicki Minaj, Keith Urban and Randy [Jackson]," Couric said. "Randy’s back."

"Randy is! Oh thank God," Lopez said. "I love Randy. I’m glad he’s doing it."

Minaj and Urban have been reported as frontrunners for the panel, along with Enrique Iglesias and Nick Jonas.

Lopez parted ways with the singing competition in July. As reported by TheWrap, Lopez was let go from Fox after seeking a raise to $17 million — an amount that the show coughed up for new judge Carey.

Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler, who signed on for the show at the same time Lopez did, also exited.
