Steinbrenner Sued over YES Network

George Steinbrenner has been slapped with a $38 million breach of contract suit by a former exec at the Madison Square Garden Network, Reuters is reporting.

Robert Gutkowski, former president of MSG, says The Boss promised him he’d be a major player in the creation of another channel, the YES network. Instead, Steinbrenner only used him as an outside consultant and therefore never properly compensated him for his role in creating the channel, the wire service reports.

The lawsuit seeks $18 million in compensatory damages and another $20 million in screw you coin (a k a punitive damages).

Steinbrenner’s reps had no comment, Reuters said.

No word on whether George Constanza plans to fire a friend of the court brief for either side.
