Ratings: ABC Wins With ‘The Taste’ Premiere, ‘Private Practice’ Finale

CBS is most-watched despite airing repeats

The series finale of "Private Practice," combined with the series premiere of the new reality offering "The Taste," helped push ABC to a ratings win on Tuesday night. Meanwhile, CBS scored the highest total viewership despite running repeats throughout the night, according to preliminary numbers.

ABC drew first place in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic with a 1.9 rating/5 share and second in total viewers with 5.8 million. The series premiere of "The Taste" at 8 p.m. drew a 2.2/6 — the night's highest individual ratings for the night — and attracted 6 million total viewers. The "Private Practice" send-off at 10 posted a 1.5/4 — down 17 percent from last May's season finale — and had 5.2 million total viewers.

Univision drew second place in ratings with a 1.7/4 and took fourth place in total viewers with 4 million.

NBC tied Fox for third in ratings with a 1.6/4 and took third place outright in total viewers with 4.7 million. "Betty White's Off Their Rockers" at 8 inched up to a 1.6/5 and had 5.6 million total viewers, while a second episode at 8:30 drew even with last week for a 1.8/5 and took 6 million total viewers. "Go On" at 9 slid 24 percent for a 1.3/3 and had 4 million total viewers, while "The New Normal" at 9:30 fell 14 percent to a 1.2/3 and took 3.3 million total viewers. The season finale of "Parenthood" at 10 took a 1.9/5 and took 4.8 million total viewers.

Fox took fifth place in total viewers with 3.4 million, with its Tuesday night comedy slate growing modestly for the most part. "Raising Hope" at 8 posted a 1.7/5 with 4 million total viewers, while "Ben and Kate" at 8:30 had a 1.2/3 with 2.6 million total viewers. "New Girl" took a 2.1/5 with 4 million total viewers, while "The Mindy Project" drew even with last week for a 1.5/4 and took 3 million total viewers.

CBS came in fifth in ratings and first in total viewers with a 1.5/4 and 10.5 million. The network aired repeats, with an "NCIS" rerun at 8 taking the largest total viewership of the night with 12.7 million.

At the CW, "Hart of Dixie" at 8 hit a season high with a 0.7/2 and drew 1.5 million. Combined with "Emily Owens, M.D." at 9, which drew a 0.5/1 and 1.4 million total viewers, the network averaged a 0.6/1 and 1.5 million total viewers.
