Frank Ocean Beats Chris Brown, But Not the Way You Were Hoping

Ocean scores after parking lot dispute

(Spoiler alert: Don't read this if you don't want to know anything about the Grammys.)

Frank Ocean won the best Urban Contemporary Album Grammy on Sunday, beating Chris Brown two weeks after Brown was accused of punching Ocean in a parking lot dispute.

An animated gif (left) quickly circulated of Brown remaining seated as Ocean accepted the award. But Brown did find it in his heart to applaud.

"So I hear… the way you disarm an audience is imagining them naked," Ocean said in his acceptance speech. "But I don't want to do that. I want to look at you as kids in tuxedos and being fancy and stuff like that."

Okay, not a great joke. But would Brown's have been better?

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said Brown punched Ocean during an argument over a parking space last month. Ocean later tweeted that he "got jumped by Chris and a couple guys," adding that he had sustained an injury.

But no charges were pressed against Brown, who first gained infamy when he beat girlfriend Rihanna before the Grammys four years ago.

Miguel was also nominated in the Urban Contemporary Artist category.
