Kathleen Kennedy Not Producing ‘Jurassic Park 4’; Focusing on ‘Star Wars’ Instead

Kathleen Kennedy previously produced "Jurassic Park," "The Lost World: Jurassic Park" and "Jurassic Park III"

"Jurassic Park 4" is hitting theaters in 2014, but franchise producer and new Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy won't be involved, a spokeswoman for Lucasfilm told TheWrap on Tuesday.

"Kathleen Kennedy will not be producing the next installment of 'Jurassic Park,'" the company's representative said. "She is currently focusing her time on leading Lucasfilm Ltd. and getting 'Star Wars: Episode VII' underway. "

Her Kennedy/Marshall Company partner and husband, Frank Marshall — who is producing the fourth film in the "Jurassic" series with Steven Spielberg — initially spilled the beans in a tweet on Sunday.

"Ms. Kennedy has moved onto 'Star Wars' and will not be producing 'JP4,'" Marshall wrote. "She's traded raptors for TIE fighters."

Kennedy was announced as the co-chairman of Lucasfilm last June, but following Disney's $4 billion acquisition of the company George Lucas founded, she became president. Now she is in charge of reviving the beloved characters from a galaxy far, far away in a sequel written by Michael Arndt and directed by J.J. Abrams.

"JP4" is still without a director, as Spielberg will only executive produce, but Universal announced last month that the 3D sequel will be roaring into theaters on June 13, 2014.
