Like Willimon's previous work, "Farragut North," "The Parisian Woman" is a political play set in Washington D.C. "Farragut North" was later made into the 2011 George Clooney-Ryan Gosling film "Ides of March."

The new play is set in the Capitol Hill section of Washington, D.C., "where powerful friends are the only kind worth having." Delaney will play Chloe, an über-operator armed with charm, wit and sensuality who uses all the arrows in her quiver to help her husband nab an important government post.

Delany is a two-time Emmy Award winner for her work in the late 1980s-early '90s series "China Beach." Prior to starring in the ABC series "Body of Proof," she appeared as a recurring character in "Desperate Housewives." She appeared on Broadway in the 1980s and '90s and also acted in several off-Broadway productions.

The play was commissioned and developed by New York's Flea Theater.
