Fox is planning to make a run for it with O.J. Simpson.
The network announced on Wednesday that it is developing a series based on the murder trial of O.J. Simpson.
Fox also said that it is developing a series based on James Clavell novel "Shogun."

FX Productions is developing both projects.
Based on the Jeffrey Toobin book "The Run of His Life: The People v. O.J. Simpson," the Fox series "will take viewers behind the scenes of 'The Trial of The Century,' driven by the nonstop plot of a courtroom thriller and presenting the story of the trial as it has never been told," Fox said.
Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski (“The People vs. Larry Flynt,” “Man on the Moon") are writing the project, which comes from "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" pair Nina Jacobson and Brad Simpson.
The "Shogun" revamp, meanwhile, promises to open "a window into the brutal world of a rarely seen feudal Japan." "The Social Network" producer Michael De Luca and "Elizabeth I" producer Nigel Williams are handling that project.
Clavell's "Shogun" was previously the subject of a TV miniseries starring Richard Chamberlain.
"These are both epic stories – one fiction, one fact – that have captivated millions of people worldwide. They’re riveting and emotional, with unique historic backdrops that lend themselves to the high-quality, dramatic event series we’re looking to make," Fox's senior vice president, event series & multi-platform programming Shana C. Waterman said of the new projects.
Fox will order its first "event series," a classification that the Simpson and "Shogun" projects fall under, later this season, for a 2014 debut.
Other event series also under development by Fox include "Wayward Pines" and "Blood Brothers."
