Universal Sets ‘Snow White,’ ‘Pitch Perfect’ Sequels for 2015

Universal will release James Wan's action movie "Fast & Furious 7" on July 11, 2014

Universal Pictures announced some release date news at CinemaCon on Tuesday.

The studio has parked "Fast & Furious 7" on July 11, 2014. James Wan ("Saw") is taking over the director's chair from Justin Lin, whose "Fast & Furious 6" drives into theaters on May 24.

Universal also announced that it will release sequels to Kristen Stewart blockbuster "Snow White and the Huntsman" and surprise hit "Pitch Perfect" in 2015.

Earlier this year, Ain't It Cool News reported that Jason Statham will play the villain in "Fast & Furious 7" and that his character will be related to the "Fast & Furious 6" baddie played by Luke Evans.

During the presentation, "Fast & Furious" star Vin Diesel gave the studio credit for thinking ahead with the increasingly popular action franchise.

As for the sequels, both are merited, as "Snow White and the Huntsman" grossed nearly $400 million worldwide, while "Pitch Perfect" sang its way to a $113 million worldwide haul.
