Krysten Ritter to Return for ‘Veronica Mars’ Movie

Rob Thomas is directing the movie, which is being made possible by Kickstarter

"Veronica Mars" director Rob Thomas has confirmed that Krysten Ritter will reprise her role as Gia Goodman in the feature adaptation of the popular TV series.

Ritter sent a note to fans who donated to the project's Kickstarter effort:

"G-G-G-Gia!!!! I'm thrilled to be reprising my role of Gia Goodman in the Veronica Mars movie!!! It's gonna be very juicy Marshmallows!!!!! AAAHHHH!!!! Forgive my over-use of exclamation points. Since you can't hear me squealing, I'm reduced to excessive punctuation. Ha!

Veronica Mars has a special place in my heart because it was my first big acting job (!!!!!!) and it was also one of the most lovely on-set experiences you could ever ask for. This will truly be an awesome shoot, not only because we all get to be reunited (can't WAIT!) but because of the revolutionary way this all was able to come to life!

Thank you, thank you, thank you to Rob Thomas, Kristen Bell, Kickstarter, and most of all, to you, our AMAZING FANS, for making it happen. I'm honored to be a part of it!"

Ritter is the latest "Veronica Mars" alum to sign on for the film, joining a list that includes Tina Majorino, Brandon Hillock, Kevin Sheridan, Jonathan Chesner, Percy Daggs III, Chris Lowell, Francis Capra, Jason Dohring and Daran Norris.

"Veronica Mars" set multiple records for Kickstarter when the campaign launched in March, becoming the fastest project to reach $1 million, doing so in just over four hours.

The project reached its $2 million goal the same day that the campaign launched, and has had more that $5.7 million pledged to its coffers.

Ritter, who has appeared on "Breaking Bad" and just signed on for a supporting role in Tim Burton's "Big Eyes," is repped by WME.
