The actor joins the comedy project from “Suburgatory” creator Emily Kapnek
ABC comedy pilot “Selfie” has completed its casting of potential series regulars.
John Cho has joined in the male lead role of Henry, TheWrap has learned.
The character is described as a self-assured, successful marketing expert, Henry is a different breed from today's social media-addicted society. As a challenge, he decides to “re-market” his coworker Eliza (Karen Gillan) — a social media star with a bad reputation.
The comedy project follows Eliza's social makeover after suffering a very public and humiliating breakup and becoming the subject of a viral video.
Cho is best known as the titular Harold in the “Harold & Kumar” movie franchise. He also starred in “Star Trek Into Darkness” (and will next be seen in the franchise's next film) and “Total Recall.” Cho recently played a recurring role on Fox's “Sleepy Hollow.” His other television credits include “Go On,” “FlashForward” and “Ugly Betty.”
In addition to Gillian, Cho joins already announced castmembers David Harewood, Allyn Rachel, Tim Peper and Da'Vine Joy Randolph.
Written and executive-produced by “Suburgatory” creator Emily Kapnek under her overall deal with Warner Bros., the half-hour, single camera pilot will be produced by Warner Bros. TV in association with Piece of Pie Productions.
