‘The View’ Panel Zings White House for Ducking Charlie Hebdo Rally

Hosts Nicolle Wallace and Rosie O’Donnell get critical on ABC’s daytime talk show. “Glee’s” Naya Rivera, journalist Jodi Applegate and comedian Mario Cantone join as guest co-hosts

The panel of ABC’s “The View” on Tuesday continued discussing the terrorist attack on French satirical newspaper Charlie Hebdo that killed 12 and rallied the world last week.

Guest co-host Jodi Applegate expressed her disappointment in President Barack Obama’s administration for not to sending a high-ranking representative to Paris for a unity march that drew millions of attendees.

“Where were we?” Applegate asked, noting that leaders from France, Israel and the Palestinian territories attended. “I was looking at the rally on television like, ‘Where’s Waldo?’ Did they send [Vice President Joe] Biden or somebody?”

“This has a lot to do with the way we’re perceived around the globe,” moderator and host Rosie O’Donnell said. “That we’re perceived as though we’re separatist, and better than, and we can make our own rules and we’re not part of the world’s community. And that fosters a lot of negativity towards our nation … It’s the oldest democracy in existence.”

Fellow host Nicolle Wallace chimed in, backpedalling on her statement Monday that softly defended the White House’s decision.

“If you can secure all those leaders then it had to be a pretty safe place,” Wallace said. “One way you could have done it, you could have sent him there and not tell anybody.”

“If we want to work quick, we can work quick. We can get that security together,” guest co-host Mario Cantone added.

“I mean, I watch ‘Madam Secretary’ and Tea Leoni would have been there,” O’Donnell said jokingly.

Shifting gears, guest co-host and “Glee” actress Naya Rivera talked shared her belief that white people shower more than “ethnics.”

“My mom is half-black and Puerto Rican, and she showers every day so I can say this. I’m married to a white man and he showers a lot — like two, three times a day — and I’m like, ‘What are you doing?’” Rivera joked.

The panel called out Wallace for showering three times a day, but the new mom had reason.

“One is to start the day nice and clean,” Wallace explained. “I’m not this tan, but they think I look better tanned so I take a shower to wash the goob off. I have two dogs and a baby. Sometimes there’s flower in my hair, mud or pee so I take a shower before i go to bed. Not weird, right people?”
