ABC/Disney at Center of ‘Here You Have’ Virus Outbreak

The media company was one of the hardest hit by the malware epidemic, but it was not immediately clear whether there was a specific target

ABC/Disney was one of the companies hardest hit by the "Here You Have" virus that spread like wildfire on Thursday. Multiple staffers at ABC/Disney told TheWrap that the virus struck at about 11 a.m. Pacific Time and continued to ravage the company for hours afterward.

The virus worked its way through several areas of the company including Radio Disney, ABC News, and many local affiliate stations.

"Our Corporate IT group sent out an email telling people not to click on the attachment," an individual who works for Disney told TheWrap. "However, people are idiots and, well … they apparently kept opening it."

The "Here You Have" outbreak affected several prominent ABC/Disney employees, including "Good Morning America" weatherman Sam Champion, who tweeted about the "obnoxious" virus.  He posted a message that said a "huge email-spam-virus" was "filling up" his ABC News email account.

Though ABC/Disney was clearly severely affected by the attack, it is not immediately known if the company was specifically targeted or where the attack began. As of this writing, ABC/Disney spokespeople have not responded to multiple requests for comment from TheWrap.

Several other companies were hit by the "Here You Have" virus including Google, Coca Cola, NASA and Comcast.
