ABC has officially confirmed that former co-host Rosie O’Donnell will be back on the daytime talk show.

“It’s official! ABC confirms Rosie O’Donnell returns as co-host of #TheView w/ moderator Whoopi Goldberg for Season 18,” the show tweeted on its official Twitter account.

O’Donnell will returning to “The View,” following the announcements that Sherri Shepherd and Jenny McCarthy are departing the series when the current season ends production.

Producers are currently searching for additional panel members for Season 18, which reportedly include Meghan McCain, who TheWrap first reported will be guest-hosting the show on Monday.

O’Donnell initially joined “The View” in 2006, gaining a reputation with her outspoken manner and liberal views. She left the following year.

The ABC talk show has found itself in a state of upheaval in recent months. In addition to the imminent departures of Shepherd and McCarthy — the latter of whom only joined the show last year — longtime “View” host Barbara Walters retired earlier this year, creating another vacant chair to fill.

As previously reported by TheWrap, Shepherd decided to exit “The View” after declining ABC’s final offer in her contract negotiations, while the network chose not to pursue another season with McCarthy.

Both McCarthy and Shepherd are expected to remain with the series until their contracts expire in August. “The View” is scheduled to return for another season in August as well.
