Paging Dr. Peter Prentice? Not for long.

“The Mindy Project’s” Adam Pally is leaving the Fox comedy midseason, a person with knowledge of his deal told TheWrap.

The series regular’s role runs out after Episode 13, as per his original agreement. Pally started with the show in Season 2, and became a regular shortly thereafter. The actor will be in episodes this spring and is expected to come back as a guest, so much as his schedule allows.

Pally recently started a production company and inked a deal with ABC.

Fox recently raised the season order of “The Mindy Project” — which is currently in its third season — to 21 episodes. The critically acclaimed comedy, starring Mindy Kaling, has never exactly been a ratings juggernaut, but it is struggling even more this year than it has in the past.

TVLine first posted the news of Pally’s exit.
