‘Age of Ultron’ First Look: Robert Downey Jr. and the Avengers Meet Their New Foe (Photos)

Joss Whedon has made a tweak to the Marvel villain’s backstory

“The Avengers: Age of Ultron” is looming on the horizon, and now Entertainment Weekly has unveiled the first look at the highly anticipated sequel that brings Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Captain America (Chris Evans), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), the Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) back together again.

Evans and Downey are featured on the cover flanking Marvel’s newest big bad, a self-aware, self-teaching robot that Iron Man invents as a way to alleviate the pressure on the human members of the Avengers, who put their lives at risk saving the planet over and over. As we know, that will turn out badly for the team and possibly for mankind as Ultron grows beyond his creator.

“The Avengers: Age of Ultron” will be released on May 1, 2015. See all the new images below.
