Alan Tudyk, Rex Lee Exiting ‘Suburgatory,’ May Return as Guest Stars

The actors won't be returning for the ABC comedy's third season as series regulars

The population of Chatswin is down two people.

Alan Tudyk and Rex Lee won't be returning as series regulars when the ABC comedy returns for its third season, an individual with knowledge of the production told TheWrap.

Budget cuts on the upcoming season has forced Warner Bros. to reduce the amount of series regulars on the show. However, the insider said that the actors could return as guest stars.

Tudyk plays Noah Werner, single dad George Altman's (Jeremy Sisto) college pal and best friend. Lee plays the Chatswin High School's guidance counselor, Mr. Wolf.

The production cuts are a result of the network paying a slightly reduced license fee for the show's third season, which is currently slated for the midseason. Further changes, which may include more cast cuts or downgrades from series regulars to recurring roles, are still possible.

Currently, Sisto, Jane Levy, Cheryl Hines, Ana Gasteyer, Chris Parnell, Carly Chaikin and Allie Grant are expected to return.

Parker Young, who played Ryan "The Body" Shay, has also moved on to newly picked up comedy, "Enlisted," on Fox.

Tudyk's representatives declined to comment for this article. A rep for Lee confirmed his departure from the show.

The exits were first reported by Deadline.
