Starz has picked up a ten episode first season of MRC and Alejandro Iñárritu’s “The One Percent,” which has Ed Helms, Ed Harris and Hilary Swank attached to star, a person with knowledge of the project tells TheWrap.
“The One Percent” follows a downtrodden farmer as he struggles to hold onto his family and his farm, when a bizarre twist of fate becomes a life-changing secret that will either save them or ruin them.
Helms has the lead role of Alfred Murphy, while Swank will play his wife, Laura. Harris plays the family patriarch, Nathaniel Cobb. Iñárritu will direct the first two episodes of the series and set the visual style of the show.
Iñárritu created and wrote “The One Percent” along with Alexander Dinelaris Jr., Nicolás Giacobone and Armando Bo, who all collaborated together on the director’s upcoming “Birdman.”
This is the third straight-to-series order of a project from MRC which includes “House of Cards” with Netflix and “Blunt Talk,” also with Starz.
