The parents of troubled former actress Amanda Bynes, who was placed in involuntary psychiatric hold earlier this week after her most recent bout of bizarre behavior, are looking at the possibility of seeking a conservatorship, the Los Angeles Times reports.

The conservatorship would give Bynes’ parents considerable control over her life, similar to the legal arrangement between Britney Spears and her parents.

Bynes, 27, was placed in involuntary hold for mental health evaluation earlier this week, after she was detained by Ventura County sheriff’s deputies. The “What I Like About You” actress had set her pant leg ablaze while starting a fire in a driveway in Thousand Oaks, Calif., where the actress was raised.

The blaze didn’t cause any property damage, according to the Times, except perhaps to Bynes’ pants.

Bynes, who in recent months has drawn headlines with a spree of bizarre behavior and puzzling tweets, has experienced her share of legal woes of late. Last year, she was charged with DUI after sideswiping a police car. (She asked President Barack Obama, via Twitter, to fire the police officer who had arrested her.)

Earlier this year, Bynes was charged with alleged evidence-tampering in Manhattan, after allegedly throwing a bong out of her apartment window.

Bynes, who has stated that she doesn’t drink or do drugs, claims that the object in question wasn’t a bong, but rather a plant vase.
