‘American Gods’: Bilquis’ Origins Revealed in ‘Coming to America’ Vignette (Exclusive Video)

Starz drama’s first season concludes on Sunday

Bilquis returns to star in the “Coming to America” vignette at the top of the “American Gods” season finale on Sunday night.

Set in 1979 Tehran, an exclusive clip obtained by TheWrap shows the Old Goddess of Love being run out of her home by men who want to take her power for themselves.

“Our queen’s power — which is the power of all women, the power of rebirth and creation — it makes some men kneel in awe and give gifts,” Bilquis says in the clip’s narration. “But it makes other men angry. And you know it, anger gets s— done.”

She’s left to flee to America — Hollywood, specifically — and forced into the “backseat.” But as she first demonstrated in her shocking and extremely NSFW introduction to the series, that doesn’t mean she isn’t a force to be reckoned with. Before Bilquis’ plane has even landed she’s found an unwitting man and made him her target.

“Our queen, she made her peace for change. She told herself the backseat’s got cushions too. She told herself she was playing the game by staying in it,” Bilquis says before taking her prey to the bathroom. “So long as I’m still alive, I can adapt. I still know what I am.”

The Season 1 finale of “American Gods” airs Sunday, June 18 at 9 p.m. on Starz.
