Jennifer Lawrence, Bradley Cooper and Jeremy Renner also explain the motivations of their characters in David O. Russell's “American Hustle”
It's no secret why Hollywood's best actors want to work with director David O Russell. A year ago, the cast of Russell's “Silver Linings Playbook” earned nominations in all four acting categories at the Oscars. Two years before that, Russell's “The Fighter” earned three different actors nominations at the annual fete.
“American Hustle,” Russell's latest film, stands an outside chance of besting both of those. The movie features five memorable performances from actors who have all been nominated before — Christian Bale, Bradley Cooper, Amy Adams, Jeremy Renner and Jennifer Lawrence.
Bale's horrific toupee aside, they all deliver as voracious, driven characters loosely based on figures from the Abscam scandal of the late 1970s. The quintet of actors discuss their roles in this featurette from Sony's Columbia Pictures. Watch Bale talk about con artist Irving Rosenfeld, Lawrence his alluring, manic wife Rosalyn, Adams the paramour, Renner a well-intentioned politician and Cooper an overeagerAll FBI agent.
