‘American Idol’ Has Slight Dip, But Still Leads Wednesday Night, Again

Steven Tyler, Jennifer Lopez and the Final 12 bring commanding viewership numbers in mid-week programming

"American Idol" scored another commanding ratings win Wednesday night, scoring a 7.4 rating/21 share in the 18-49 demographic and 22.2 million viewers.

The ratings for "Idol," airing at 8 p.m., represent a slight dip from last Wednesday's episode, with 8 percent fewer watching in the demo.

The next-closest competition for "Idol," CBS' "Criminal Minds," airing at 9 p.m., pulled in a 3.6/10 share in the demo, and 13.7 million total viewers. "Survivor: Redemption Island," airing at 8, pulled a 3.1/10 in the demo and 10.6 million total viewers. CBS won the 10 p.m. time slot, pulling a 2.6/7 among adults 18-49 and 10.4 million total viewers for "Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior."

For ABC, back-to-back reruns of "The Middle" beginning at 8 p.m., both drew 1.2/4 in the demo, and 4.9 million and 4.6 million total viewers. A repeat episode of "Modern Family" airing at 9 drew a 2.2/6 share in the demo and 5.8 million total viewers. "Mr. Sunshine," airing at 9:30, drew 1.8/5 and 4.6 million total viewers. At 10, "Off the Map" scored a 1.4/4 and 4.2 million total viewers.

NBC's "Minute to Win It," at 8, scored a 0.9/3 in the demo with 3.2 million total viewers. A repeat of "Law & Order: SVU" at 9 also drew a 0.9/3, with 3.3 million total viewers. "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" at 10 earned a 1.5/4 in the demo and 5.2 million total viewers.
