‘American Idol’ Results Shows Cut to 30 Minutes

“Surviving Jack” will follow the singing competition on Thursdays this spring, “The Following” will premiere Jan. 20

Fox is cutting “American Idol” results shows in half, and following with the Christopher Meloni coming-of-age comedy, “Surviving Jack.”

After a few hour-long results episodes into the season, the finalist results shows will be cut to 30 minutes. While no premiere date has been announced for new series “Surviving Jack,” it will air after “Idol” on Thursdays this spring.

Fox also announced Season 2 of “The Following” will premiere Monday, Jan. 20 at 9 p.m., following the “Sleepy Hollow” season finale.

Legal drama “Rake,” starring Greg Kinnear will debut following the NFC Championship game Sunday, Jan. 19. It will make its regular Thursday 9 p.m. time period premiere later that week. In the show, Kinnear plays a self-destructive criminal defense attorney, trying to balance his personal life with a chaotic professional one.

“Idol” returns Wednesday, Jan. 15 at 8 p.m.
