‘America’s Got Talent’ Star Angelica Hale Tells Us Why She’s ‘Very Confident’ About Her Chances

“I feel absolutely relieved,” the 10-year-old singer tells TheWrap

“America’s Got Talent” Season 12 standout Angelica Hale went into Tuesday night’s episode wanting to perform with more confidence, and it appears to have paid off.

The 10-year-old singer impressed the NBC variety series’ judges and audience by closing out the show with a rendition of David Guetta and Usher’s 2011 hit “Without You.”

“I feel absolutely relieved because, before the show, I tried to be more confident, and I think it worked,” Hale told TheWrap. “Throughout the song, I gained my confidence. I’m very happy with the performance, and I think I did really well.”

Hale explained that this particular song has an emotional connection for her, in light of the recent change in her family.

“I really like that song because it has a great message to it, and it also has a fantastic message to America, because [it says], ‘I can’t win, I can’t reign without you.’ I’m also dedicating this to my baby sister because she was born two weeks ago. She’s very close to me, and I love her so much.”

As she prepares for tonight’s results episode that will determine the final 10 performers heading into next week’s finale, the Atlanta native told TheWrap she’s feeling optimistic about her chances: “Anything can happen, anything’s possible, and I think that if I work hard enough, and I do well, then I can win this thing.”

“I’m feeling very happy — I feel very confident, and I know I will still be a winner no matter what happens,” she said. “I’m very happy to everyone that will make it tonight, and I hope that America voted for me, and I just love every single one of them.”

“America’s Got Talent” airs Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 8/7c on NBC.
